Complaints

Crossmans strive to deliver the best possible legal service. If at any point you feel unhappy or concerned about the service we have provided then please contact Patrick Crossman on 01761 431688, by email office@crossmans-solicitors.co.uk or by post.

Initially you may find it helpful to seek a resolution directly with the person working on your case. If you choose to make a formal complaint then you can read our full complaints procedure here. Making a complaint will not affect how we handle your case.

Legal Ombudsman

If we are unable to resolve your complaint then you can, 8 weeks after making a formal complaint, refer the issue to the Legal Ombudsman which deals with complaints about the services of legal service providers such as:

•  Delayed or unclear communication

•  Problems with your fees, or

•  Loss of documents.

Complaints to the Legal Ombudsman should be made within 6 months of receiving a final written response to your complaint and within 6 years of the act or omission about which you are complaining (or within 3 years of first becoming aware of it).

Complaints to the Legal Ombudsman are free of charge. To find out more about their services please visit www.legalombudsman.org.uk or contact them on 0300 555 0333.

Solicitors Regulation Authority

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) also regulate Crossmans and deal with complaints relating to conduct and dishonesty. They have wide ranging powers if they uphold complaints against solicitors. Examples of matters which they may investigate are:

•  Shutting down of a law firm without informing clients.

•  Dishonesty or deliberately overcharging clients.

•  Taking or losing client money.

•  Treating a client unfairly because of age, a disability or other characteristic.

To find out more about The SRA please visit www.sra.org.uk or contact them on 0370 606 2555.
